Building Trust and Intimacy with your clients (as an alternative to "dealing with resistance")

Speaker:  Jesper H Christiansen, PCC & Kati Hankovszky, PCC

Workshop in English

In 1984 Steve de Shazer, one of the founders of the solution focused approach, managed to publish his article ’Death of Resistance’ after several rejections in different journals. His main point was that all clients try to collaborate in their own unique way. The assumption is that when we experience what we call resistance in our coaching we are not enough aware of our client’s way of collaborating.

So how do we deal with unexpected (or expectedly difficult) behaviour of our clients?

In this workshop you will get inspiration and new perspectives on how to create meaningful forward moving waves in difficult situations. You will get an opportunity to try out other ways of being aware of - and support - your client’s unique collaborative behaviour.

Jesper H Christiansen, PCC, lives in Switzerland and Denmark and has been self-employed since 1997, working in both the private and public sectors.

As a trained Kaospilot (Project Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship education), raised with the dynamic of World Cafe dialogue, Jesper took a jump from systemic theory to solution-focus in 2005, and is also certified as a Solutionsurfers Brief Coach Trainer. After discovering the simplicity of working with goals and resources in 1-1 coaching, teams and large groups, solution-focus has become the core competency in all his work.

Katalin Hankovszky, PCC, is an independent trainer and coach, coming from a pedagogical background, working in business and training environment since 1995.

Since she first came across solution focus 1996 she has integrated it in all of her work. She co-created the concept of SF training methodology.

She’s leading the Hungarian faculty of Solutionsurfers (brief coaching, coach training and book publishing). She’s a SOLworld enthusiast from the very beginning and a freshman in her phd studies (educational sciences). In Switzerland she’s part of the Solutionsurfers team (former Weiterbildungsforum) and leading her company  since 2003.
