The Path is the Goal - An Introduction to the VIA Approach (Vocation, Integration & Alignment) in Coaching

Wenesday, 21 September 2022 – 17:00-18:30

Lise Bruynooghe

Description

An introduction to the VIA framework, in lat. “road” or “way”, for coaching. VIA stands for vocation, integration and alignment, three different stages that when identified by coaches can help co-create different pathways for exploration. The questions inherent to these stages are different, as is the energy exhibited by clients. In this interactive workshop, we’ll alternate theory with practice related to the different stages. We’ll further highlight the cyclicality and non-linearity of the approach and will close with peer coaching as to your own, personal VIA.

Benefits for the participants? What are the Learning objectives?

  • Gain an understanding of the VIA framework for coaching
  • Develop the ability to identify the stage of the VIA the client brings and most effective ways for exploration.
  • Embed adaptive action into their coaching practice
  • Have clarity as to their own VIA journey

ICF Core Competencies

The training is coach-specific in nature, related to the Core Competencies and will help the coach further develop their skills when working with their clients.
Coaches will learn to listen deeply beyond the words (the what) to the patterns at play and the stage the client is at in the present moment. This attention to the present moment and non-judgmental curiosity links into the coaching presence. An ability to work with via can enhance the coach’s ability to create awareness for the client and hence move from reflection into action with specific goals, while identifying any obstacles, challenges and required support.

  • Creating awareness
  • Managing progress and accountability
  • Coaching presence
  • Planning and goal setting
  • Active listening
  • Designing actions
  • Powerful questioning
